First, I was overwhelmed by the ingredients and Jason had just cleaned the kitchen and here I was about to make a huge mess. I used millet, instant oats, stone ground oats, quinoa, flax seed, chia seeds, peppitas, sunflower seeds, almonds, craisins, dried blueberries, dried dates, and raisins. It's like meatloaf for vegetarians this thing- I just grabbed what ever was "close enough" to the ingredients it asked for that I had in my pantry. I did have to buy millet. Here I am inventing peanut Apple butter in a blender because I didn't realize Jason used all the peanut butter to make amazing thumbprint cookies ๐last week to celebrate my ten years of teaching.
I am pleasantly surprised it worked/ peanuts and apple sauce - close enough!
I also added less maple syrup/no extra sugar since the apple sauce has sugar in it. It was WAY easier and less of a mess than I thought it would be! Will my willy nilliness work? Will they really be granola bars or will it be a pan of oats and nuts kind of stuck together? Stay tuned to see if I forked it up!
